Project Overview
TB-project handled the Japan production for National Geographic’s international content project, Japan Parks GODAI.
The project was created to showcase the appeal of Japan’s national parks to overseas audiences, with filming taking place in Kyushu and Nagano as international travel began to recover after the pandemic.
TB-project managed the Japan-side production, from location research and permit applications to crew coordination and on-site production.
Challenge
Because the production took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, the project required not only standard location production, but also compliance with the strict safety and production standards specified by Disney Singapore.
Filming also involved regional locations and challenging environments, including snow-covered mountains, requiring us to find and assemble specialist crew members from across Japan.

Result
After completing Disney Singapore’s vendor registration and due diligence process, TB-project was commissioned to handle the Japan-side production.
The shoots in Kyushu and Nagano were completed in accordance with strict COVID-19 safety and compliance requirements, and the resulting content was released internationally by National Geographic.
The project demonstrated our ability to meet international production-management standards while also handling the practical demands of location production across Japan.
Why TB-project
International productions often require more than filming itself, including vendor registration, compliance procedures, safety management, English-language training, and reporting requirements.
For this project, TB-project completed Disney Singapore’s vendor registration and due diligence process and handled COVID-19 safety requirements, producer training, risk assessments, and other required reports.
For the shoot itself, we sourced mountain guides as well as main camera and drone camera operators experienced in snow and mountain conditions. We also arranged equipment and supplies suited to the environment, including LTE transceivers for reliable communication in remote locations.
One of TB-project’s strengths is our ability to identify the people, equipment, and resources needed for each project and build an effective local production team anywhere in Japan.
